mine is a netopia dsl router.
I've noticed it takes a while to "wakeup" if I have not been active recently.
About once every 2 weeks I have to reboot it.
Given the age and # different dsl services acquired around the country,
I expect many variations on equipment and config.
Mine was a Bellsouth service for many years.

I also have a linksys router. AT&T had me remove it to trouble shoot one day and it dropped twice in 24 hours without the router.

Are you using a router or direct to the PC?

I've been using a Linksys router forever and never had a problem like that.
