Here's a really good reason for paying close attention to how your mail server is configured (assuming you run your own, or companies, server) ...

I was checking my mail queue for problems today and noticed the following error: "Deferred: 450 : Recipient address rejected: Greylisted for 176326535 seconds".

According to my calculations, that's a greylisting period of 5 1/2 years.

The domain had a backup MX listed, so I checked that server too ... and both had the same response.

No risk of spam getting into that server.
