Has anybody had recent experience with a drive recovery service? My
brother lost a home EIDE drive with a lot of digital pictures and he's
trying to find a recovery service. The drive spins up and makes
clunking noises, but doesn't respond to the OS (Windows). He also tried
installing the drive into a USB drive cage, no luck there.
He found what looks to be a reputable service in California, the only
hitch being the near-$1000 price tag (but at least you now have a
baseline to use when you need to justify redundancy in your home
network). Anyway, just wondering if anybody had recent positive
interaction with a recovery service.
