Steve,
I use a Plextor video capture device. It accepts both RCA and S-video.
Software is personal preference. I don't remember off-hand what I have
but I'm looking around for a replacement. If you just want to copy
video as is, probably anything will work. In my case I want to do some
editing and I'm having trouble finding software that will allow me to
take a single clip and cut it up into smaller pieces.
HTH,
Rick

Subject: [PCTECH] Video capture suggestions
I want to take some 8mm analog videos and post them on a web site.
Obviously I need some sort of software to capture the video and convert
them to a digital format. Do I also need a specific type of video card
for the PC? The camcorder only has an RCA cable for connection to a TV,
no USB or other cables.
Any recommendations for software and/or hardware?
Thanks,
Steve
