Hi John,

Close, but...

This is WinXP SP2. By right-clicking on a specific file, and selecting the
"Copy Path to Clipboard", I not only get the path, but the filename appended
to it. So your solution gets the path, but not the file. I need the file
as well as the path.

Has anyone heard of Mike Lin (mlin.net)? He's got something that looks like
what I'm searching for. I seem to remember his name.

TIA,
Dan

Copy path to clipboard? I haven't noticed that as an explicit option
before. Are you Vista or XP on the new system?

In Vista, the displayed path in Explorer is prettied up: > Computer >
Local Disk (C:) > Users > John is displayed instead of C:\Users\John.
However, clicking in the 'address bar' changes it to C:\Users\John and
you can do a right-click Copy to copy the path.

In XP to get the path in the address bar do View - Folder Options - View
tab and check 'Display the full path in the address bar'. Then you can
do the same right-click Copy with that.

Or are you meaning something else?

Subject: [PCTECH] "Copy Path to Clipboard" context menu add-on

I was just migrated to a new laptop, and I really, REALLY miss the "Copy
Path to Clipboard" context menu option in Explorer that I had on the old
laptop. I googled for this, and got 14,100 results. I would like to
pick
one from a reputable site, so that I don't import any kind of nastiness.
I
thought I got it from Microsoft's Tweak UI, but I don't see it there.
Any
recommendations?

Is there a way to determine where I got this from on the old laptop?
Would
the registry have this kind of info?

TIA,
Dan
