Google rocks! I use gmail and iGoogle too.
Sunday I created a gmail account for my 8 year old and last night the 8 year old tried setting up an account for my 6 year old. With a little help from Dad, they got it done.

Subject: Re: [PCTECH] Web browser email versus client email

I've been using GMail since 2004. Frankly, while it supports POP &
IMAP, I've only used the browser version on my PCs and the Mobile
Application for my Treo. See Access Choices at
http://mail.google.com/support/?ctx=gmail&hl=en The browser version is
fully-featured enough that I've no real desire to set it up get the
messages into a PC client.

GMail started with the famous 2GB limit but they've been slowly upping
that limit since then. My free mailbox currently has 6.3GB of space, of
which I struggle to fill much more than 1% of. Good spam filtering as
well and it's integrated with Google's chat.

The browser version makes access easy from any PC. Also, I use an
iGoogle home page (personalized Google page:
http://www.google.com/ig?hl=en ). If you're not familiar they can be
used to aggregate RSS feeds and all kinds of info. There's a GMail
gadget so my GMail shows up on my browser home page. Very handy.
