You could Google the program name to see if you can find out what it is.
I've also used this website to help me determine what can be unchecked in

I use MSConfig to do it. What might help you is what can be a big help
to me: make sure you can see the directory structure of the program you
are questioning. That will usually give you enough information as to
what the program belongs to.
