Yep, everything shows just fine with IPCONFIG /ALL and as I noted in my
original post I can ping the iSeries just FINE from there but NOT connect to
it with the Synapse emulation software. Argh... And then I can't get to the
internet via IE either. To me this makes absolutely NO sense... :-)

Probably. I don't know much about IPSEC but I know that turning it off on
the PC allowed Client Access to connect and I didn't have to reinstall the
OS. Of course, this PC was production floor PC and didn't need a VPN or
much else in the way of security.
Have you run a IPCONFIG /ALL from a DOS prompt to help troubleshooting?
