To me, the major reason to use Ultramon is for taskbar spanning.

The nVidia card on my workstation has reasonable multi-monitor support
(after I upgraded the driver), but the taskbar was all on the primary
monitor.

Ultramon puts a taskbar on the secondary monitor for all tasks displayed
on that monitor.
