Dan,

(Cheap?!?!?)

In the big picture, yes. If / when there is an outage, I'd pay much more
than that for service. After taxes, it works out to under an extra dollar a
day. I work from my home, so in many ways the internet is my "lifeline" to
my clients. And since I work from home, my commute costs are pretty low
(<g>) so spending an extra $1/day seems justifiable.

Must you absolutely positively have 24/7/365 access with no interruption?

No, but I like it. :)

I have a generator too. I rarely need it, but when there is an outage is
not the time to shop for it. Ask the people in the Queens, or St Louis, or
possibly California before too long from the sounds of things. I bought it
after losing power for a few days twice in one month a couple seasons ago.

I could pay for years of "spare" DSL service for what the generator cost,
and I've never had a serious power outage since putting it in. But, like
the dual WAN availability, it is nice to know it is there if / when I need
it.

Doug
