<shudder> I'm actually very uncomfortable with the current state of
behavioral science particularly when it comes to children;
I think they really messed up parenting, and got young couples all afraid that they didn't know what they were doing, or at best, they pretended to know more than Grandma.... There is no substitute for parents when it comes to parenting.. Like picking out the best keyboard for the kid...

I know it's hard to believe, but I didn't push the keyboard on him.
Kids are naturally inquisitive, and the soak it up at toddler age. Just imagine, they learn how to use the whole English language in a scant couple of years (adult vocabulary too, if you share it [the clean kind\). (And the rest of their life learning to get quiet, some of them..) Good time to start them.

I agree with the apparent Qwerty consensus. Either way, they will soon enough have to learn the difference between ABC's and qwerty anyway. I've been in mixed-language families and communities, and some say not to teach them two languages at once, but a kid can get it straight and get two native-level languages from youth no problem. It's like changing gears on your car, or the difference between turning in reverse or straight.

The earlier the better! I appreciate the way I remember my own Dad encouraged me as a pre-school tot to get into those books, I soaked them up, and for that I also remember my very first library book.
