A good add-on library is a very nice plus. I haven't needed any of the ones available for NoteTab, so I can't compare them. The hex view/edit would be nice every once in a while, though there are freeware ones available that can be linked into NoteTab. (Hex view/edit is a supposed feature in the next release.) Now, the 2GB text file stuff can become a drag in the freeware of NoteTab. The Pro version is very fast. (But I rarely expect high-speed when opening documents over a few 100MBs.) Other UE-32 features mentioned in the thread (EBCDIC/DOS/UNIX, column mode, etc.) are pretty standard in NT though there are improvements in paid versions. So far, I'd still recommend NoteTab Lite (freeware) for a text editor. The choice to upgrade to NT Standard ($9.95) or NT Pro (19.95) or UltraEdit (or whatever) is up to user preference by the time the need arises. These products blur the line between "text editor" and "word processor", not to mention "source editor". NT tends to emphasize that it's a "text editor". Tom Liotta
