I would not suggest EVER giving up your land line.  911 service on
Vonage is iffy at best.  I would *NOT* count on it.  Plus, if your power
goes out, phone service will remain (so long as your phone can take it's
power from the telco line).  I always keep a basic phone around for just
this eventuality.

I've got a panasonic multi-line cordless system with answering machine &
caller id.  Works pretty nice.
