I ran into problems here on some stuff too (a Xerox Color Laser) and wasn't
sure what was going on but on a whim I had Wall Wart USB hub laying around
and tried that and it fixed the problem on that one. Had to use a Wall Wart
USB hub on another problem too. Now I know why :-)

And explains why I've got one USB device (infrared reader for a Polar S625x
watch) that will NOT work when plugged into a usb hub.  It is port powered
and uses to much power.  Would have been great if Polar tech support could
have told me that.
