> Thanks for all the information. I've been hearing a lot > about Norton Ghost lately. Looks like I'll be checking into it. About 2 years ago we bought 6 laptops for sales reps at the same time. Identical Toshibas. Each one had to have Win XP installed and configged, Office installed, the sales software installed and configged, all our LAN printers installed and configged, etc etc etc. Heretofore it had taken me the better part of a day on each new laptop I set up. You know how long that can take. Ghost was a godsend. I set up the first one completely, right down to a gnat's you-know-what. I then used Ghost to burn an image (took 4 CDs) of the hard drive. Then I Ghosted from these CDs to set up the other 5 laptops. Each of these 5 took me less than 30 minutes to put out the door. The caveat is the machines must be identical hardware-wise or there will be driver problems out the wazoo. The only weird thing was the username. The initial one was set up with "Jon" as the user. On the subsequent 5 laptops I renamed the user from "Jon" to "Dan" or "Andy" or "Shelby" or whatever was appropriate. If you looked at the Documents and Setting folder, every laptop showed the user as "Jon" no matter what name was used to log on. Never has caused any problems though. -- Jeff Crosby Dilgard Frozen Foods, Inc. P.O. Box 13369 Ft.
