Considering Apple purchase

I'm seriously considering purchasing an Apple G5 for home use.  What pros
and cons can you suggest?
 
My main reasons for considering this purchase are security, immunity to
(most) viruses (virii?), and ease of use . . .
 
Negatives are cost (although that difference is less than it used to be) and
"non mainstream" (it's not a Windows PC which means I have to teach my
family the differences).
