I tried this last fall with a kit from AVerMedia (their spelling) called
DVD EZMaker. I wanted to make DVD copies of my son's football tapes to
send to coaches and to share with his grandparents. I got so fed up that I
finally went to a camera shop that offered the service and paid them about
$100 to make one master DVD from about 15 game tapes.

Now that the prices have come down, why not just go to Circuit City and
buy a combo VHS/DVD recorder? It'll have jacks in the fron for hooking up
your camera. That's what I'm going to do once we get unpacked from our
move last weekend. With a big family room in the new house, my wife has
finally given me the green light to get some new toys.... :-))

        Subject: [PCTECH] Video capture recommendations

I'm looking at adding video capture to my PC. Primarily for converting
old VHS tapes to DVD but also as a means to store current video from a
digital camcorder to DVD. I looked at the Dazzle products but most of the
reviews I read weren't very good. I don't know if the products are really
that bad or if it's just a few disgruntled user making a lot of noise.

If anyone has any experience with video capture I'd like to hear you
recommendations on how to get started.
