To hear him tell it, the only languages they are "allowed" to use are C or C++. Agreed on kids reaching, but for a first programming language? He's got big eyes right now, so I'll keep encouraging him, but temper it with the realities of the beast. (Hey Booth, am I the only one that sees your replies lose all the paragraph formatting?
