dsl routers

Bellsouth recently upped the speed on my dsl circuit.
I have an business dsl/fixed ip office network, with a wireless router and
AS/400.
My Cayman router immediately failed (they said not compatible).
Sold me a Netopia 3346 dsl router.
However they could only get SMC wireless router to work if they
set the Netopia to "passthru".
So AS400 plugged into wireless. Ethernet interface goes active.
On Display Route option of netstat says route available *yes.
I ping an outside server & ping fails/route avail now says *no.
Wireless devices work fine.
Any ideas?
