Thinkpad. they aren't cheap, but i think they're worth it.

I'm very happy with the port replicator on my t40. My thinkpad sits there
(sans battery, most of the time) and I can't tell it's not a desktop. The
only weird thing about it is that plugging headphones into the port
replicator sound jack doesn't disable the on-board laptop speaker - but I
just plug them into the laptop jack instead, which does disable the
speaker.

together, they're small enough to sit in my overhead bin so I can lock it
at night. it has everything you asked for. You can also get a docking
station for them, but I have nothing to report on them.

thinkpads are also rated tops for laptops in most consumer polls and mag
reviews.

Folks:

Can anyone recommend a laptop, besides Dell, that has a true docking
station or port replicator?

I'm looking to replace my Dell Inspiron 8100 ... and I'm open to other
brands ... but I need a docking station or port replicator.

The docking station or port replicator cannot be USB based. I need a
true base station that has it's own ethernet, usb, video connector,
power, rs232, and parallel ports.

Thanks!

david
