Used the {windows key}+L to lock it. I use this whenever I leave my desk for more than 30 sec. -----Original Message----- From: Rick.Chevalier@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:Rick.Chevalier@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, August 13, 2004 12:18 PM To: pctech@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: [PCTECH] W2K Pro: background tasks run while Windows "locked"? Dan, Yes. I have recently done just what you are wanting. I start defrag, lock the machine, and go home for the night. The next morning I unlock and defrag is done. Periodically, I would like to leave some long-running tasks running on my PC (Defrag, AV scans, etc.) when I leave work for the day. If I Ctrl-Alt-Del to get to the "Windows Security" dialog, I have six option buttons, the first of which is Lock Computer. Clicking this locks Windows, requiring my (or the net admin's) password to unlock it. So, I'd like to be able to lock Windows in this way and have defrag or AV scans work in the background. Will this work? tia, db -- This is the PC Technical Discussion for iSeries Users (PcTech) mailing list To post a message email: PcTech@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/pctech or email: PcTech-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/pctech. -- This is the PC Technical Discussion for iSeries Users (PcTech) mailing list To post a message email: PcTech@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/pctech or email: PcTech-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/pctech.
