I assume with IPCOP you would have two lan cards you would only set it for the internal lan card. And the wake commands are not suppose to be routed. And it takes 16 packets (or something like that) with the mac addresses of the lan card to start it up.

And I just read someplace there is a debate on if turning the PC off and on when not used for some time is better then leaving it on. And with wake on lan it just turns the PC on it does not turn it back off.

The system is not even running so not sure it even knows what operating system is on the PC. It works between the LAN card and the motherboard.
