Hi Rick -

has anyone heard of this technology?

As an Amateur Radio operator, I've heard quite a bit about it in the bulletins and the weekly ARRL Letter from the American Radio Relay League (the largest national Amateur Radio organization in the U.S.) because of the major potential of interference to licensed radio services (Amateur Radio, police, fire, etc.). Power lines are not meant for radio frequency transmissions.

The ARRL sent out a bulletin last night with the latest news. Here is a link to where I have it mirrored on my website: http://www.ke9nr.net/hamradio/arrlbuls/2004/2004arlb005.shtml

If you go to the main page at http://www.ke9nr.net/ and enter BPL in the site search box you will come up with a lot of hits from the ARRL bulletins and Letters.
