No, it is not setup to relay.  I actually turned it on for a short time
to try sending from the device, but got the same results.

Is the Exchange server set up to allow relaying from an external
address?  I
would hope not.  This maybe causing you the troubles.  You will have to
make a
change to the Exchange server to allow relaying from his connection
only.
