By the way, is Python setup in RDi as smooth as I suspect?

Since one can mount an IFS dir directly on one's Linux, Mac, or Windows
box, it's ridiculous to use RDi for Python on the i.

Just use your favorite editor: Spyder, jEdit, Atom, VSCode ...

Run stuff at the commandline in bash via ssh to test.

I use PyDev in RDi, but I agree with Jack. I'm the only one I know who
is ultra comfortable installing random Eclipse plugins to RDi, which
makes me very much an outlier in this. If you already have a favourite
PC-side editor, don't think twice: just use that. If you haven't got
one yet, pick one. Maybe try VSCode and see how it feels to you.

As for SSH/Bash - do it! I can't tell you how much nicer my life has
been since I got away from QP2TERM and QSH.
