Kerwin Crawford asked for the latest information on what was needed to
get POI up and running through RPG, from scratch. The concern was that
Scott Klement's presentation materials might be out of date.

Naturally I suggested looking into Python instead, since my experience
with it has been quicker and smoother than using POI.

For Kerwin's benefit, I've cross-posted this message to the RPG list,
but since the focus will be Python, it really belongs on the open
source list. I recommend subscribing to the open source list if you
haven't already.

A good place to start learning about open source on IBM i is the
official community home page:

https://bitbucket.org/ibmi/opensource

From there, the first link to check out is "getting started" in the
table of contents:

https://bitbucket.org/ibmi/opensource/src/e287fa1b9829763fb6c2c96172f1ed2d16ba1ac5/docs/yum/

Question for Kerwin: Your IBM i is at version 7.2 or later, right? If
not, Python is still an option, but the steps to get there are quite
different. (Still pretty easy, but different.)
