That corresponds to what I'm seeing. If I start ActiveMQ interactive (shell or QSH) it gives a PID and can be ended via ActiveMQ. Running from QSH CMD() no PID is assigned and it can't be ended normally.

I posted the question to the ActiveMQ mailing list. I can't imagine IBM support will look at this unless I buy a separate consulting contract.

Thanks

Subject: Re: [IBMiOSS] Start ActiveMQ from CL

*disclaimer: I never used activemq nor have configured it at all

I got the same thing, but the service is running, my script

--
#!/QOpenSys/pkgs/bin/bash
set
PATH=/QOpenSys/pkgs/bin:/QOpenSys/usr/bin:/usr/ccs/bin:/QOpenSys/usr/bin/X11:/usr/sbin:.:/usr/bin
/QOpenSys/pkgs/bin/activemq start
--

Since it is java, I used WRKJVMJOB and found the jobs.

I searched NETSTAT and found the port 8161(in my case)

opened the browser and that worked and was able to logon.

so not sure if the whole product works but this part is running.
I cannot seem to use "activemq stop" so endjob it will be

maybe its time for a PMR.

I created a script (ActiveMqStart) with these two commands:
set PATH=/QOpenSys/pkgs/bin:/QOpenSys/usr/bin:/usr/ccs/bin:/QOpenSys/usr/bin/X11:/usr/sbin:.:/usr/bin
/QOpenSys/pkgs/bin/activemq start

It works from a shell and from interactive QSH, but not if I run this 5250 command:
QSH CMD(ActiveMqStart)
In that case, it performs the same as running the activemq command directly.

Thanks

you might want to put the command in a shell scrip and run that from CL.
make sure the PATH is correctly set in the script.
