I realize you're speaking to John Y. and not me, but I would like to say
that our expectation and IBM's stated intent is that, in porting a critical
handful of open source packages, IBM is empowering the user community to go
beyond IBM's initial work and build a taller stack ourselves.

When we opine about other languages, it's not a gripe that IBM hasn't done
enough for us, but rather, anticipation of that which is now within our
grasp if we want to put some work into it as a community.

That's the way open source has always worked, and always will work.
