Figured it out. I needed to do two things:

1. Fix my environmental system variable PATH to include C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\Windows\;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0;C:\Program Files\nodejs;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_161\bin;C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_161\bin;C:\Python27.

2. Install the windows-build-tools module. The command I used was: npm install -global windows-build-tools

I was then able to install node-jt400 module successfully: npm install node-jt400.

I haven't developed any apps that use the module yet. But at least it installed.

Subject: Anyone using the node-jt400 module?

Hi,

My shop wants to explore running node.js on windows with the node-jt400 module installed. The node-jt400 modules allows JS scripts to access the Java classes in JTOpen (jt400.jar).

Installation
I have everything installed and my environmental variables set. Here are my versions of node, npm and python.

c:\>node -v
v8.9.4

c:\>npm -v
5.6.0

c:\>python
Python 2.7.14 (v2.7.14:84471935ed, Sep 16 2017, 20:19:30) [MSC v.1500 32 bit (Intel)] on win32

c:\>java -version
java version "1.8.0_161"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_161-b12)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.161-b12, mixed mode)

I have also installed the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86).

And here is my node-gyp info:
c:\>node-gyp
node-gyp@3.6.2<mailto:node-gyp@3.6.2> C:\Users\myname\AppData\Roaming\npm\node_modules\node-gyp
node@8.9.4<mailto:node@8.9.4>

Installation of node-jt400 module
Here is what happens when I try to install node-jt400.

c:\>npm install node-jt400

java@0.8.0<mailto:java@0.8.0> install c:\node_modules\java
node-gyp rebuild

c:\node_modules\java>if not defined npm_config_node_gyp (node "C:\Program Files\nodejs\node_modules\npm\node_modules\npm-lifecycle\node-gyp-bin\\..\..\node_modules\node-gyp\bin\node-gyp.js" rebuild ) else (node "C:\Program Files\nodejs\node_modules\npm\node_modules\node-gyp\bin\node-gyp.js" rebuild )

I have tried several Google searches, but many threads either have no solutions or recommend things like deleting modules directories.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
