That's interesting - thanks. So using SSH I don't get that error
any more. However, gmake fails with " gmake: cc: Command not found"

Is the a config step required?

My guess is it's not trying to find gcc for whatever reason and instead is
just trying to find the cc program (default Unix C compiler). You can
usually override this with the CC environment variable to use GCC (or
whatever compiler you want) instead:

export CC=gcc
npm install hiredis
