Who did this basic ERP training for you?

There is something to be said about knowing ERP. Before we did the
upgrade from BPCS 405CD to Infor's ERP LX we put everyone through ERP
training. The training was not software specific. Everyone went through
the basics. I don't care if you were a payroll clerk or whatever. You
went through basic ERP training. Then the depth of the training increased
based on job role.
And there was some change in personnel. Sometimes a button pusher (take
menu option 1 then ...) just doesn't hack it versus someone with
university training in ERP.
After all the ERP training was done, then the software specific training
began.

There is still One World and SAP runs on the iSeries. We looked into
running SAP on the iSeries but, it was shot down in lieu of Unix. Even
though the UNIX guys agreed the iSeries would probably manage the software
better they stuck with UNIX because quote "that's what they know". BTW -
you will find lots of people that say they know something about ERP
software but finding anyone that really knows it is a challenge. I would
argue it might be easier to train new people on your existing software
than switch over to an ERP.
