He-heh. They could just search the midrange archives :-) Poring over select messages in several threads presented for an intuitive web search, after looking for just a few minutes, I found what I presume would be an answer to "where to locate password hashes in an AS/400 environment?"

But why the Retrieve Encrypted User Password (QSYRUPWD) API would be considered insufficient as an answer, is beyond me. Using the API ensures that any implementation details that might be specific to the hardware or the level of the OS software are avoided; any tricks required to overcome the system integrity protections are also avoided.
