As a partner you can reserve a virtual loaner - it is limited to 2 weeks at a time - actually 17 days - and is probably not intended for long-term work. I use it for customer gigs and the like.

Go to http://www.ibm.com/systems/vlp for more information. Again, it's a free offering for partners. You can save an image of your reservation, so you can get back to work. It usually takes 4-6 hours to get one reservation done and re-start it.

As to the lease program, all i software is basically free under that. Can't hardly go wrong.

I am an ISV, but that's probably a grand way of putting it.

I joined PartnerWorld and they've got some good deals on a lease, so maybe
I'll see what I can do there.

Hope I'm on the right list here.. I'm after a cheap developer box with

compilers, C in particular. Anyone know a good place to get one, or does
anyone have one for sale? All the dealers I've tried cannot help as IBM
does
not allow them to sell on the licenses on refurb hardware.
Are you an ISV? If yes, become an IBM partner. Get an old box from
somewhere, call up your Distributor and have them drop-in the Box in
your company name. Pay for software assurance, and you'll be licensed.

If it's for your own personal enjoyment, look on the gray market.

If you develop internal software, consider a hosted partition.
