We purchase used systems and are an IBM reseller. The base operating
system is transferable to another buyer. If your system is above 5.2 the
application software is only transferable within the same enterprise. If the
system is licensed at 4.4 to 5.2 and you have all the original documentation
your application software has value (assuming it was not transferred to a
new box you purchased). Your hardware has no resell value in the current

MKS is hoping to sell an older iSeries ... it was leased through the
business partner program, but is now owned outright.
Can anyone tell me what the policy on the OS license is? Will the
purchaser have to relicense the OS? If the purchase is in the BP program, can
they license the OS at a reduced rate?
Also ... anyone know how much the machine I described in
might be worth?
