Tom Liotta (whose first programming language was also Basic, though I have no idea what
Basic it was; so, my "real" first programming language was 1401 machine language
My first language was Fortran, via punched decks of cards, intro'd in one week of several hours a day. (Love them ten-dimensional arrays!)

My first machine was the 1401, I'll be doggone. I was an operator on it for a big insurance company. Two magnetic reel tape drives (the big ones), and the sorts on 3rd shift would take four hours. Put 'em on, sit and study.

Is there a Fortran compiler on the i? Was there?

Alan
