Which PC guru was it that was an oft-quoted source for warning about the Y2K problem in the early 1990's? He used that point to make clear that the problem needed lead time.

Frederick Brooks knew why outsourcing would not work well over 30 years ago, seems to me. His book "The Mythical Man Month", showed how the effort involved when more communication is needed grows exponentially with the number of contact points involved - or something like that. That's why throwing more bodies at a project that is overdue will not get it done sooner, it will make it worse.
