Wll, in other related news, I just received in the mail today an apparently full, complete copy of Novell Linux Desktop. I thought that was pretty bold, as well as expensive, three CDs and the "cool" (expensive) packaging .

Maybe they looked at the AOL example, burying us with disk, with the idea that we load them up, get six months (or two or three or ?), get used to it, then people sign up for service.

Another poster talked about what it takes to go from Microsoft to Linux on desktops. This is the TCO factor that Microsoft is trumpeting. It's a big do-do about conversion costs, not real long-term costs. They don't emphasize the losses through security breaches, blue screeens, forced reboots, etc.

But for me that just reinforces the argument to get free from a locked-in situation. Novell is the best supporter of Novell Linux right now of course, but lots of people could use it and never give 'em a penny.
