Could have been the French (first?), don't remember where I
heard it or saw it, but it was pegged into my mind as Lenin.
Of course the French Revolution was a sort of precursor, or
foreshadowing, of the Bolshevik.

| Wasn't it the French who tried the 10 day week after the
revolution? Year I
| and II of the Republic, 1st Brumaire and all that. I think
they only got to
| year II and then went back to the normal 12 month year.

| I'm sure he understood that Steve, but I vote for standard
| time myself. AMong other things, it messes up system logs,
| jobs theoretically "finishing before they started" et.al.
|
| FDR pushed it into place, saying it was to conserve
national
| resources and improve productivity.
|
| At least it wasn't as bad as Lenin's attempt to change the
| week to 10 days to squeeze more work out of the newly
| "liberated" working class. Or one president ("Liberal
Party"
| <g>) in my wife's birth country of Honduras, who very
| seriously proposed "abolishing Sundays" to grow
production.
| (It was not a joke, but he certainly provided joke fodder
| for years!)
