~~~release X and moving ~~~it into X + 1? I liked Reeve's answer. Forward fit seems to describe the activity of doing it. I would say that when I am thinking in the language of repository or bullet proof API building, I am future proofing within my limits, standardizing the manner that release X + 1 will be coded to use X resources when possible.
