WOW, THAT is good to know Norm. Thanks. I had just about given up on ISP's doing anything after reading an article late last year or earlier this year in I THINK Computerworld that traced a VAST majority of junk mail right back to the biggest communications providers out there (i.e. MCI/Worldcom, AT&T, QWEST, etc). The articles said they had contacted them and they weren't too concerned or gave some song and dance... I investigated a couple of sites after reading an article on ORBZ. After using SpamCop to identify the ISP's of the spammers and e-mailing them with the details of the spam and SpamCop reports, I've had a dramatic reduction in the number of spam e-mails I receive. It hasn't stopped completely but I only get about 10% of what I was getting. Every little bit helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chuck Lewis" <clewis@iquest.net> To: <midrange-nontech@midrange.com> Sent: Friday, April 12, 2002 1:04 AM Subject: RE: Unsoclicited Commercial Email YA, I loved the MoFo reference, bouncing back to my youth and the street slang we used. That was DEFINITELY one that you could get away with and most folks were clueless as to what it was :-) And I just hope more folks can go after these spamming bozo's. This does point out the main problem with this whole though; as much as I hate to see tons of federal laws, each state having to pass its' own laws on this is dumb and should be handled at the federal level. Of course then the really big low-life's in all of this will just use off-shore servers... :-( Chuck -----Original Message----- From: midrange-nontech-admin@midrange.com [mailto:midrange-nontech-admin@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Richard B Baird Sent: Thursday, April 11, 2002 10:32 AM To: midrange-nontech@midrange.com Subject: Re: Unsoclicited Commercial Email For a second, I thought I was reading an april fools story. Is the company's aka really 'MoFo'? that's one of the funniest things I've heard in a long while. If true, I hope they win. Sounds like etracks is pretty unscrupulous. >See http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/sci/tech/newsid_1917000/1917458.stm _______________________________________________ This is the Non-Technical Discussion about the AS400 / iSeries (Midrange-NonTech) mailing list To post a message email: Midrange-NonTech@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-nontech or email: Midrange-NonTech-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-nontech. _______________________________________________ This is the Non-Technical Discussion about the AS400 / iSeries (Midrange-NonTech) mailing list To post a message email: Midrange-NonTech@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-nontech or email: Midrange-NonTech-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-nontech.
