Both the zSeries & iSeries are still running z/VM & OS/400 respectively, but I guess they are are tailored to run Linux optimally - maybe even have restrictions on standard interactive/batch loads. I think the iSeries as mainframe confusion is just a mistake in the article (though all too common with the lack of marketing the iSeries seems to suffer). Certainly the Register story doesn't seem to confuse them.
