Chuck,

I think Apple is ahead of the curve, as far as BSD/*nix goes.  Plus the
Apple/X Community seems to be into collaborating a lot more than the iSeries
Community is.

Yeah, seems like more than a few people were disappointed in Jobs'
announcements, this year...
