Acrobat site virus?

An employee of ours (on his home computer, thank goodness) recently
downloaded and tried to install the latest version of the free reader.

It trashed his entire Program Files directory.  I mean the whole thing.
This is a fairly sophisticated home user (assembles his own, etc).  Has
anyone else heard anything along these lines?
