Having seen ISPs in this country (UK) withdraw usenet postings from their servers due to claims of slander etc, which places them in the role of a publisher, rather than just a transmitter (like a telco) of messages, I'd hate to see that possible with these lists. I'm not sure how the opt-in nature of the lists affects that, though. If something *did* get out of hand, it *might* be difficult for David if it were claimed his software edited out part of the original posting. As long as there is a standard disclaimer I don't think it would be an issue (I'n no lawyer, though). Please don't take this the wrong way - I'm not keen on unwanted clutter in the messages, but I think this *does* serve a purpose. I'm sure that if David doesn't have any issues with it, it'll disappear soon enough ;-) I haven't seen any feuds or serious flamefests on any of David's lists but unfortunately see them all too often on some of the other lists/usenet groups I subscribe to. Maybe AS/400 users are just that bit more discerning and civilised :-) If you (as in you plural - those on the list) want to see less clutter, how about stripping out all the quoted message trailers (that the list software adds) that just seem to multiply exponentially as the threads go on ;-) Regards, Martin -- martin@dbg400.net / jamaro@firstlinux.net http://www.dbg400.net DBG/400 - DataBase Generation utilities Open Source test environment tools for the AS/400 / iSeries and miscellaneous database & spooled file management commands.
