Hi,
You could setup a virtual tape drive ...
1.
ADDVRTAP
2.
ADDIMGCLG
3.
LODIMGCLG
Point your backup to the virtual drive
Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Kind regards / Bien à vous,
Seán

Subject: Re: SAVSYS without TAP01
Short answer is no. Longer answer is possibly.
What’s the error? Could be the tape device simply needs cleaning (what kind of tape device is it?)
Is the tape initialized correctly? Wrong initialization can look like a failed device.
Bad Tapes? Again error messages at V7R1 could be confusing.
Is there a SCSI adapter on the system for tape attach? If so simply get a different tape device.
