So what you're trying to find out is if you can run ADDTCPIFC and for the
first parameter, INTNETADR, you can use one of the special values supplied
(*IP4DHCP, *IP6SAC) instead of using an IP address. I'm guessing so.
There's likely a reason for those values. You can always try adding a
secondary IP address. Most of my LPARs have multiple. Make sure you use
the appropriate value for LCLINTNETA when testing the following:
PING RMTSYS(NRA.ORG) LCLINTNETA('???')
TRACEROUTE RMTSYS('nra.org') LCLINTNETA('???')

I've never tried configuring IBM i as a DHCP client.
