That's the behavior I expect: OVRDBF rules.

Hello sages

a programmer has just approached me with a perplexing OVRDBF issue:

Somewhere in a start of a CL PGM he issued an OVRDBF with FILE(XFILE)
MBR(XMBR)
then some 100 lines down he issued a CPYF with TOFILE(XFILE) TOMBR(YMBR)
and the XMBR MBR was populated!
Turns out that OVRDBF's MBR takes precedence over CPYF's TOMBR.

Searching the web I found that OVRDBF's MBR even takes precedence over
RPG's File specs EXTMBR.

Is that so?

If yes, then this old dog has learned a new very old trick.

What say ya ?
