Hi Karl

I like Jon and Susan's presentations - here is a link that might help - https://www.tug.ca/tec/Sessions/Handouts/PDF/13A-DesigningDDSScreenswithRDi.pdf

I suggest that you have the Properties view open all the time - as well as the Outline. But Properties has tabs for all the stuff you might want to do with records or fields, etc.

IBM also has a page on "How to learn RDi" at https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/6120837 - before you go, check it out - there are some PDFs. One of these is for Lab 05 of a set of labs and has screenshots of what you would do. It does suggest using the Screen Designer perspective, which Susan doesn't - but she uses something similar that she talks about.

One thing you have available is an editable view of the source - especially useful for hidden fields, which you won't see once created, of course.

Enjoy!!

I have experimented with the RDI 9.8 Screen Designer but have some trouble
getting the hang of a bunch of features in it. I know what result I want in
the DDS but getting there seems even clunkier.

Is there any printable version of documentation for it? I would like it as
some light night reading .
