The recommendation I got from IBM in a long-running case was to use IBM Semeru Runtime Open Edition Java 11.

They were especially recommending the latest version of Java 11, as they "have seen much more success with that" than with higher numbered versions. Apparently, Java 11 (LTS) is still updated along with 17 (LTS) and 21 (LTS). I really don't understand Java versioning.

The biggest issue I've encountered ever since we dropped Oracle is that multi-tab session windows have mysterious, somewhat random resizing issues when the Automatic Resize preference is toggled on, which is (well, now past tense, *was*) useful when switching between 24x80 and 27x132. Even with IBM's recommendation above, this behavior continues, although it isn't as bad as when we were using our shop standard Eclipse Adoptium jre-17.0.9.9. I finally turned off the Automatic Resize preference and set my fixed screen size to 27x132.

Subject: Which Java provider and version for ACS on Windows 11?

Got a new laptop, wondering which Java provider and version I should install. From the ACS docs, the options are:
<snip>

Looks like I was running on the old laptop...

openjdk 21.0.2 2024-01-16 LTS
OpenJDK Runtime Environment Microsoft-8905927 (build 21.0.2+13-LTS) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM Microsoft-8905927 (build 21.0.2+13-LTS, mixed mode, sharing)

Which honestly is a bit of a surprise, as I recall installing IBM's Semeru. (And it still appears in under Control Panel-->Programs)

Maybe I'm overthinking it...

Charles
