Now that is a big topic.
I am running 7.5 on a mix of Power 10's and Power 9's. The only IBM
product which has an expiring key is 5770-BR2, the new replacement for
5770-BR1, BRMS.
Honestly I do have one 7.6 lpar but that is early ship so that has early
ship keys and early ship stuff is never sent with permanent keys. I cannot
order G/A 7.6 keys until tomorrow, Friday 2025-04-18.
There is nothing in the 7.6 Memo to Users, nor the Upgrade part of the
documentation saying that all 7.6 keys will be permanent or temporary.
This is only conjecture but I'm expecting all keys on Power 11 to be
non-permanent.

This isn't as big of a deal to me as it is to those who only upgrade once
every 15 years.

I'm not even sure if you were to buy a Power 9 or Power 10 today with 7.4
or 7.5 if you could get permanent keys. I have no idea.

Hence I stay by my allegation that ruling out Power 9 is a profit ploy.
:-)

:) Am I wrong or a say a typical P5/P10 on Power9 customer on permanent
licensing, not only will need a new shiny processor (and that can be
reasonable) but also acquire a new subscription license because perm is not
applicable? Another key to manage and that if expire stops the system? IBMi
365 license? ;D
